So you’ve seen a great print on a dress or top at the shops.  But just because you like the print, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to look just as good on you.  You might be better of using is as a bedspread.

Prints can make you look larger or smaller than you actually are!

What?  You’re kidding right?

Nope – the scale of your print must be in proportion to the scale of your body.

So what does that mean?  Here, let me explain.

The scale of your print must be in scale to your body

If you are a petite woman and you decide to wear a large floral print that is spread out over a white background; your body will look very small in comparison to the size of the print.

Say for example, you are a tall, curvy woman and you wear a print that has really small flowers on a white background – your body will look large in comparison to the size of the print.

If you want to look curvier…

So, if you want to make parts of your body look larger or curvier, wear patterns with larger spaces in between them and strong colour contrasts between the print and the background.  Such as black and red or black and pink.  That’s why, if you want to disguise a booty, you wouldn’t wear pants that have large orange flowers on a black background.

If you want to look smaller….

But, if you want your body to look smaller, wear patterns with regular spaces between them and a low colour contrast between the print and the background.  For example soft pink and cream or pale green and cream.

Go and experiment with some patterns to see how they look like on you![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
