What to Wear With a Cropped Cardigan: High Waist Pants
A high waist is the best style to wear with a cropped cardigan as it provides balance in the outfit. The pants appear longer as they have a high waist, which gives the outfit a 3/4 (pants) and 1/4 (top) look. That’s the trick to creating balance in an outfit.
If you don’t want to put your midriff on display opt to wear a bodysuit or a slim fitting top underneath, leaving the buttons open on the cardi to show off the high waist. The same cardigan, bodysuit and shoes can be used and worn with two different styles of pants giving two different looks. The wide leg pants are perfect for work, whilst the paperbag style waist in the cargo pants are perfect for casual wear.
A Maxi Skirt Works So Well!
The maxi skirt creates a lovely feminine look for work or even for date night. To dress the outfit up I’ve added in a pair of gorgeous slingback shoes in a muted beige tone. The cardigan works well with the style of skirt, showing the 1/4 and 3/4 outfit balance.
The denim maxi skirt has the same appeal as the longer pants shown above. Once again, it’s the 3/4 and 1/4 look to create balance. You can wear the outfit with or without the bodysuit. The booties are shorter which also adds to the balance in the outfit.
One cardigan can create a multitude of looks, it all depends what you wear it with. HIgh waist looks the best with a cropped cardigan or top and it’s up to you how much skin you show – none or a little. I’m a fan of not buying too many items, but buying good quality items that I can wear with many different clothing pieces that I already have sitting in my closet.
